My Summer Reading List

I read all throughout the year, but this summer is going to be a little different for me. I am currently reading Regie Routman's Reading Essentials, and in it she writes about sharing your reading life with your students. She keeps a reading log of all the books she is currently reading, has read each month, and books she wants to read.

Starting today I am keeping a reading log in this cute little thing I got from Target. (it's a mead notebook/journal)
Excuse the horrible picture. I'm laying on my bed, in a semi-dark room, relaxing.

So here are the books I plan to read this summer:

The Book Whisperer: Awakening the Inner Reader in Every Child
I have heard great things about this book!

No More "I'm Done!": Fostering Independent Writers in the Primary Grades
Kelley over at Mrs. Randall's Learning Library highly recommended this book!
Angle of Repose (Penguin Twentieth-Century Classics)Saturdays and Teacakes
Thimble SummerSafe Haven

What are you reading this summer?

Amanda

Those look like some fine reads, Ms. Smith!! LOL! Thanks for sharing your reading list. I am continuing to read your Reading with Meaning by Debbie Miller. It is awesome and I can sooo see using her strategies in my new third grade classroom nect year!

The Book Whisperer is such a great book! I wish I had more books in my classroom library to give students more choices, but Donalyn Miller has so many great suggestions & I love her philosophy! Great picks! :) Have a wonderful summer & thanks so much for sharing! -Tracee

Amazon keeps recommending "No More 'I'm Done!'" to me ... so I'd like to know what you think of it when you get there!

Magnificent Multiagers!

Everyone is talking about "The Help". Your comment made me go to Amazon to read the description, and it sounds really great! I just might have to pick that one up!

Summer is for inspiration and reading can fuel that fire.

Your list is invigorating & filled with enthusiasm: for life and for your classroom as well.
